Asylum-seekers는 망명 신청자를 의미한다. 망명 신청자는 또 무엇이지. 내가 배웠던 이 과목은 Migration 이라는.. 똥통 순수하고 귀여워 보이는 꼬맹이들도 어른으로 자라면서, 점점 그 선함과 순수함을 잃게 되는 걸까. 호주 하워드 연립 정부 시절, 망명 신청자들을 난민으로 받지 않기 위해, 그들이 자발적으로 본국으로 돌아가게끔 교묘한 술책을 썼다는 내용. 누군 아무런 걱정 없이 맛있는것 먹고, 꿀잠 자고 친구들과 가족들과 일상의 즐거움을 만끽하지만, 지구 반대편 누구는 일상이 전쟁통에 물 한모금도 제대로 마실 수 없는 삶을 살고 있다. 원래 그런거야, 빈곤과 전쟁은 어디나 존재하지, 카르마야- 라고 단정짓기엔 세상은 조낸 커다란 똥통 속 같구나. 아이같은 순수한 마음으로 살 순 없는건가.
